Born and bred in Dunedin, Nicola has a Masters of Science degree in Herbal Medicine from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN), Bachelor of Arts degree (Otago) and a Diploma in Naturopathy, Diploma in Clinical Herbal Medicine from the Canterbury College of Natural Medicine. She has been mentored by well-respected naturopath and herbalist Peter Kearns and has been in private practice for over 20 years.

Nicola worked as Training Manager and Technical adviser for Thompson Nutrition doing product development, producing technical information, preparing and delivering nationwide seminars and lectures to Health stores, Pharmacy’s and medical professionals. Topics included recent scientific research on nutrition and herbs, and drug-herb interactions. She has taught & lectured to students at colleges & universities, been involved in NZQA approved course development and written articles for NZ Pharmacy magazine & The Health Store UK bulletin.

Nicola is a longstanding member, and part of the current committee of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists (NZAMH), an organisation active in promoting the safe and effective use of herbal medicines. She is on the current committee, supervises and mentors new practitioners and has developed a uniquely NZ mentoring programme for Naturopaths and Herbalists.

Alongside her husband Graeme, and an experienced team of staff, she owns and operates three busy Health 2000 stores and a herbal dispensary in Otago.

She has a busy private practice advising clients on healthy food choices, lifestyle options as well as nutritional and herbal medicines. Common health issues include stress, fatigue and insomnia which can adversely affect physical and emotional health, while also helping clients work towards managing more serious disease states.

Nicola has also been fortunate to work with Richard Joseph and the graduates of the Turning Point Program.
